Castle Carvery Caister - Senior Chef
We’re looking for a passionate and reliable Senior Chef to join our kitchen team. At Castle Carvery, our kitchens are at the heart of what we do - serving high-quality, freshly prepared roasts and classic main menu dishes in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. As Senior Chef, you’ll support the Head Chef in leading a supportive and energetic kitchen team who take pride in consistency, presentation, and delivering an excellent guest dining experience every day.
About You
You’ll thrive in a fast-moving kitchen, work well as part of a team, and confidently take the lead when required. You’ll have a strong understanding of food hygiene, kitchen organisation, and financial awareness. Along with a positive attitude and a drive to develop both yourself and the team around you.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will include (but is not limited to):
- Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Preparing and cooking high-quality carvery meats, sides, and accompaniments to specification.
- Setting up and maintaining the carvery deck and kitchen for smooth and efficient service.
- Leading and motivating the kitchen team to deliver consistent, high-quality food.
- Working across all kitchen sections, including carvery and main menu stations.
- Receiving and storing deliveries in line with food safety standards.
- Completing kitchen records, due diligence checks, and food safety documentation.
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout.
- Ensuring all prep, cooking, and presentation meets brand standards.
- Cleaning down and resetting the kitchen at the end of each shift.
- Supporting the Head Chef in achieving GP targets.
- Actively working to minimise wastage levels through effective stock control, portioning, and rotation.
- Assisting with stock takes & ordering.
- Driving the team to success by building a culture of accountability, efficiency, and high performance.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Senior Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready to step up.
- Experience in a high-volume or carvery environment is beneficial.
- Good understanding of kitchen financials, food cost control, and stock management is desirable.
- Full training and onboarding will be provided.
