Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Volunteer Independent Visitors to join our team in Croydon. This role involves providing companionship and support to young people who are looked after by the local authority. As a Volunteer Independent Visitor, you will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable young people by offering friendly engagement and meaningful social interaction.
Responsibilities
- Building trusting relationships with young people through regular visits and conversations
- Offering companionship and emotional support during visits
- Being consistent
- Being a listening ear
- Have fun
- Recording visit details as required, ensuring confidentiality at all times
Skills
- experience in supporting young people is a preference but not a must
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in English to facilitate meaningful conversations and understanding
- Basic IT skills for record keeping or completing any required documentation
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people
- Demonstrate patience and empathy during interactions
