At 16Plus Care Support Solutions Ltd, we’re expanding our services and are looking for caring, dedicated and motivated Children and Young People's Practitioner to join our growing team at Tyndale Home. The Role
You’ll provide advice, assistance and care to children aged 8–17 living at Tyndale Home, attending to their practical, physical and emotional needs. Acting as a positive role model, you’ll work closely with children to help them address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential – working within the Children Act 1989, National Minimum Standards and all relevant legislation, and reporting to Shift Leaders, the Deputy Manager and the Registered Manager.
Day to day, you will:
- Deliver high-quality care that meets each child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs, in a nurturing environment where they feel secure and free from harm
- Build warm, positive and rewarding relationships, offering unconditional positive regard
- Act as a key worker – keeping care plans up to date, followed and amended as children’s needs change
- Provide 1:1 support to help children address past and present difficulties, and emotional support at times of stress
- Help children develop self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding pro-social conduct
- Support children’s education and extracurricular activities (including in the classroom where needed) and encourage links with the community
- Empower children to be actively involved in decisions about their lives, and act as their advocate in meetings
- Take care of the practical side of a real home – cooking, cleaning and general upkeep
- Keep accurate records and write reports for planning meetings and reviews, attend and contribute to children’s and team meetings, and liaise regularly with other agencies and support services

Working Pattern & Requirements
This role involves varying shifts including early mornings, late evenings, sleep-ins and an on-call rota, with weekends and Bank Holidays worked on a rota basis. Occasionally you may be asked to change your rota at notice (per your contract) to cover the needs of the service, including emergency sleep-in cover, and to undertake other duties such as decorating or gardening to maintain the standard of the home. The post requires an enhanced DBS check; any changes to personal circumstances affecting these checks must be reported to your line manager immediately.
