Vehicle Inspector & Purchaser
Location: Pro Cars, Unit 3, 158 Dukes Road, London W3 0SL
Salary: Starting salary of £27,000 per year, with opportunities for progression based on performance and experience.
Working Hours: Full-time, 6 days per week. Working hours will vary depending on vehicle inspections, collections and business requirements.
About Pro Cars
Pro Cars is an established used car dealership based in West London. We are looking for an experienced, motivated and reliable Vehicle Inspector & Purchaser to join our growing team.
About the Role
This is a varied and hands-on role where you will travel throughout the UK using public transport to inspect, test drive, negotiate and purchase vehicles. Once a vehicle has been purchased, you will drive it back to our dealership in West London.
When there are no scheduled vehicle inspections or collections, you will assist with the day-to-day running of the dealership. This includes moving vehicles, preparing stock for sale, keeping the forecourt and showroom organised, and carrying out any other reasonable duties required to support the business.
The successful candidate must have excellent mechanical knowledge, be confident identifying faults using diagnostic equipment, and possess strong negotiation and decision-making skills. You will represent Pro Cars professionally when dealing with private sellers, dealerships and trade contacts.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel throughout the UK using public transport to inspect vehicles.
- Carry out comprehensive vehicle inspections and test drives.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Assess vehicle condition, service history and overall suitability for purchase.
- Negotiate purchase prices with private sellers and trade contacts.
- Purchase suitable vehicles within agreed budgets.
- Drive purchased vehicles back to our dealership.
- Complete accurate inspection reports and maintain purchase records.
- Move and organise vehicles around the dealership.
- Assist with preparing vehicles for sale when required.
- Support the day-to-day running of the dealership and undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience inspecting, purchasing or appraising vehicles.
- Excellent knowledge of vehicle mechanics, engines and vehicle diagnostics.
- Confident using professional diagnostic equipment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable travelling extensively throughout the UK.
- Able to work independently and make confident purchasing decisions.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Reliable, trustworthy and highly organised.
- Flexible approach to working hours and duties.
