Cheshire West and Chester Council is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.
Collapsed canals, major fires and avian influenza.…. just a few of the major emergencies that the Joint Cheshire Emergency Planning Team has had to plan for and respond to over the last twelve months on behalf of both Cheshire East Council, and Cheshire West and Chester Council. To assist the team in preparing both authorities for these types of scenario, and to meet the challenges of the Civil Contingencies Act, we are looking to recruit a new Planning & Exercising Officer. (Note: This position is a Career Grade, which provides an opportunity for progression, subject to meeting specific criteria, to Grade 8 after three years in post.)
This officer, an Agile Worker working mainly from home and occasionally from alternative locations, will be focused on the development, maintenance, and exercising of a range of emergency response plans, working with a wide range of partners to ensure a safe environment for the Cheshire community.
You will need to bring an enthusiastic and positive approach to your work, and the ability to operate under pressure. Above all you must be a team player with an open mind and flair for adapting to different situations with ease. No previous experience in this field is required although a good understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act, COMAH, REPPIR, and Pipeline Safety Regulations is desirable. You must also have good IT skills, be willing to work throughout the Cheshire area, and participate in the Duty Emergency Planning Officer Rota.
