Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Optical Assistant / Eyewear Production Assistant to join our team. The role will be approximately 80% eyewear production, working independently and requiring a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and self-motivation. The remaining 20% will involve covering shop floor duties, providing a friendly and professional customer-facing service when required.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the optical industry and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a customer-facing team.
Duties:
- Carrying out eyewear production work to a high standard
- Working independently and managing production tasks efficiently
- Maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Carrying out quality checks on finished products
- Covering shop floor duties when required
- Advising customers on eyewear and providing excellent customer service
- Assisting with general optical retail duties
- Carrying out basic repairs and adjustments on eyewear
- Assisting with stock management and general duties within the practice
Experience:
- Previous experience working in an optometry practice or optical retail environment is required
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
- Comfortable working independently for extended periods
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with customers
- A practical, hands-on approach to work
- Reliable, conscientious and self-motivated
- Familiarity with optical products and eyewear is beneficial
This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work within an established optical practice while also being involved in the production of our own eyewear products. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with both independent production work and customer-facing optical duties.
Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
