Fixed term ending 31 July 2029, 22.2 hours per week
We are seeking to appoint a Professional Practice and Industry Engagement Coordinator to support the delivery of AI-Ready Yorkshire: A Professional Practice Accelerator for AI Innovation, a new Innovate UK-funded project led by the Department of Computer Science.
AI-Ready Yorkshire will create paid AI-focused placement and graduate traineeship opportunities with Yorkshire SMEs. The project will help students and graduates gain applied industry experience, while supporting regional businesses to explore the use of artificial intelligence, data analytics, automation and digital transformation.
As Professional Practice and Industry Engagement Coordinator, you will coordinate employer engagement, support the development of placement and traineeship opportunities, and help match students and graduates to suitable roles. Working with academic colleagues, employers, Careers and Employability, and professional services teams, you will support the smooth delivery of placements and traineeships from initial scoping through to completion and evaluation.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, you will have experience in employer engagement, business engagement, careers and employability, placement coordination, student support, project coordination or a related professional services area. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, together with the ability to work effectively with employers, students, graduates and colleagues across the University.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a strategically important project that supports student employability, regional innovation and the University’s wider ambitions in applied AI and industry engagement. The project will connect closely with the University’s Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence, which brings together interdisciplinary expertise, industrial partnerships and regional innovation networks to support responsible, explainable and applied AI with real-world impact.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).
