Somerset State Basketball is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate Head Basketball Coach to lead our Bath Coaching Centre from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who wants to play a key role within a growing county-wide basketball programme, helping deliver high-quality sessions whilst maintaining excellent standards, energy, organisation, and player experience across the venue.
About Somerset State Basketball
Somerset State Basketball is Somerset’s county basketball club, delivering grassroots coaching centres, holiday camps, tournaments, and our All-Star performance pathway across Somerset.
Our mission is to provide positive, high-quality basketball environments where young players of all abilities can develop skills, confidence, and a love for the game.
The Role
As Head Coach at our Bath Coaching Centre, responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and high-quality basketball sessions in alignment with our curriculum
- Ensuring a positive, safe, and professional coaching environment
- Maintaining high coaching and behaviour standards across the venue
- Supporting player development across all age groups and abilities
- Leading session organisation and overall venue quality
- Acting as a positive role model for players and families
- Supporting the continued growth of Somerset State Basketball within the local community
- Attending coach development days and meetings with Somerset State management
Session Details
Venue: King Edwards School, Bath, Somerset.
Thursdays during school term time
Session Times:
- 6pm–7pm - Yr3-5
- 7pm–8pm - Yr6-7
- 8pm–9pm - Yr8-10
Pay: £17.50 per hour session (Rising up to £25.00 per hour session when targets are met)
Start Date: September 2026
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
- Have sports coaching experience with children
- Bring energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism
- Be reliable, organised, and confident leading groups of all ages and abilities
- Be passionate about developing young players
- Have strong communication and leadership skills
- Be able to create sessions that are fun, engaging, and developmental
Requirements:
- Basketball Level 1 or 2 qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Safeguarding Children qualification (or willingness to obtain)
