Experienced Drainage Engineer — CCTV, Jetting & Drain Repairs
The Pest Company is looking for an experienced Drainage Engineer to lead the delivery of our drainage services across the North East and Yorkshire.
This is an unusual opportunity to become the drainage specialist within an established pest-control business. Drainage defects are a major route by which rats enter homes and commercial premises, so our drainage and pest-control services work hand in hand. You will not simply clear blockages: you will investigate the underlying cause, explain it clearly to the customer and deliver practical repairs that help prevent the problem returning.
You will take ownership of drainage jobs from initial diagnosis through to completion. You must already have strong practical experience in high-pressure water jetting, CCTV drain surveying and drain repairs using patch lining or lining systems. Full training will be provided in professional rodent control so that you can investigate and resolve drainage-related rat problems as part of one joined-up service.
What you will be doing
- Clearing blocked drains, gullies, toilets and waste systems using high-pressure water jetting, rods and other appropriate equipment.
- Carrying out planned drain cleaning, descaling and preventative maintenance.
- Completing CCTV surveys
- Accurately identifying and recording defects, including displaced or open joints, fractures, cracks, root ingress, scale, obstructions, redundant connections and evidence of rodent access.
- Producing clear, professional CCTV survey reports with footage, images, defect locations and practical remedial recommendations.
- Tracing drainage systems and establishing pipe routes, connections and responsibility where required.
- Installing localised structural patch repairs and drain liners in accordance with manufacturer instructions and safe working practices.
- Completing pre-installation and post-installation CCTV inspections and maintaining accurate job records.
- Explaining findings and recommended work clearly to domestic and commercial customers without unnecessary jargon or pressure selling.
- Working safely, keeping work areas clean and completing risk assessments and other job documentation.
- Undertaking company-funded training in rodent biology, inspection, monitoring, control, proofing and the safe use of pest-control products.
What we need from you
Essential
- Substantial hands-on experience in a drainage-engineering or drainage-service role.
- Strong, demonstrable competence in high-pressure water jetting and safe jetting practices.
- Experience carrying out CCTV drainage surveys independently.
- The ability to recognise, correctly describe and locate drainage defects.
- Experience producing clear written CCTV survey reports and remedial recommendations.
- Practical experience installing structural drain patches and/or liners.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Good written English, basic IT confidence and the ability to use job-management, camera-reporting or mobile applications.
- A professional manner and the confidence to deal directly with domestic and commercial customers.
- A practical, methodical approach to fault finding and a willingness to take responsibility for a job from diagnosis to completion.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of professional pest control and to complete the required training and assessments.
- Willingness to work in confined, dirty and physically demanding environments while following safe systems of work.
Desirable
- Water Jetting Association training or another recognised high-pressure water jetting qualification.
- Recognised CCTV drainage-survey training, with experience of coded surveys and industry-standard defect classification.
- Experience installing ambient-cure liners as well as localised patches.
The person we are looking for
You will be the drainage specialist within the business, so we need someone who is technically capable, dependable and comfortable working independently. Just as importantly, you must be curious about why a problem has occurred rather than being satisfied with a temporary fix.
You should take pride in good workmanship, accurate reporting and leaving the customer with a clear understanding of what has been found. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape and grow a drainage service, while developing an additional specialism in rodent control.
What we offer
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- Company vehicle and fuel card for work use.
- Company pension.
- Company uniform and PPE.
- Phone/tablet and the equipment needed to complete and report jobs.
- Company-funded training in professional pest control.
- Further relevant drainage and safety training where required.
- The opportunity to become a key technical member of the business and help develop its drainage division.
- A varied workload across the various areas we operate, include the North East and Yorkshire.
Working pattern
This is a field-based role covering the North East and Yorkshire. Contracted hours, paid overtime and any out-of-hours rota will be confirmed as part of the employment package and stated clearly before appointment.
