Your next role
We are looking for a Transport Development Control Technician to support the Local Highway Authority in assessing planning applications and ensuring new development integrates safely and sustainably with Swindon’s transport network. You will assist with reviewing pre-planning applications, planning applications and revisions, preparing clear evidence led highway and transport comments under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
You will support assessments across a variety of development proposals and work closely with Transport Planning, Traffic Management, Public Transport and Highway Agreements teams. This will include helping to review technical submissions and contributing to the delivery of safe, accessible and well connected development.
This is an excellent entry level opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career in transport development management. You will receive mentorship from experienced colleagues, gain exposure to a variety of development proposals and build confidence in applying transport planning and traffic engineering principles within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
The ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required and access to a car to make site visits and attend meetings.
The team operates a hybrid working model with all practitioners expected to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
