Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Person/Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our small but busy Chichester pub. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for excellent service, and a good understanding of food and beverage management. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring food safety standards, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Previous experience in restaurant, hotel, or bar settings is essential, along with a proactive approach to team management and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of bar staff, ensuring smooth service delivery.
- Manage the bar area, including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health & safety standards across all operations.
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service, resolving guest concerns promptly.
- Organise staff rotas, assign duties, and monitor performance to foster a motivated team environment.
- Assist in training new team members on service procedures, safety protocols, and product knowledge.
- Monitor sales figures and implement strategies to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Collaborate with kitchen teams to coordinate food production and optimise service flow during busy periods.
- Maintain an organised workspace, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly and hygiene standards are upheld.
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a restaurant or hospitality setting, ideally as a Duty Manager or similar role.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food production.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure.
- Familiarity with serving procedures, hospitality etiquette, and customer relations.
- Previous experience working as a barista or in bar management is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive attitude with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant qualifications in hospitality management or culinary arts are advantageous but not mandatory.
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
