Job Title: Youth Support Worker

Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Shift work
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £13.50/hour
Job Purpose:
To provide emotional and practical support to young people aged 16–25 living in supported accommodation. The role focuses on empowering young people to build independence, resilience, and positive life outcomes to successfully transition to long-term independent housing, education or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Key working & Support Planning
· Manage a designated caseload; co-produce person-centred support plans, risk assessments, and goal reviews.
- Support young people to set and achieve personal development goals in line with their pathway plans.
2. Independence Living Skills
- Coach young people on budgeting, cooking, tenancy maintenance, utility management, and benefit claims.
- Encourage participation in community-based activities, volunteering, and social inclusion initiatives.
3. Safeguarding and Wellbeing
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel respected and supported.
- Identify and appropriately respond to safeguarding concerns, report incidents, and manage day-to-day client risks in line with statutory guidance and organisational policy.
- Support young people to understand risk, build resilience, and make safe choices.
4. Education, Employment & Training:
· Encourage engagement with education, training programmes, work placements, and community resources.
5. Housing & Tenancy Management
· Assist residents in maintaining occupancy agreements, addressing antisocial behaviour, and preparing for move-on accommodation.
6. Team Working and Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals, including social workers, local authorities, education and training providers, community organisations and healthcare providers.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training and continuous professional development.
7. Record Keeping and Professional Practice
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of:
o Session delivery
o Progress against development goals
o Engagement outcomes
- Prepare reports and contribute to reviews as required.
8. Regulatory Compliance
- Work in accordance with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and guidance from Ofsted.
- Comply with all company policies, including safeguarding, data protection, and health and safety.
Person Specification
- Previous experience working with vulnerable young people, care leavers, or homeless youth in a residential or supported housing setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding protocols, trauma-informed care, and young people's housing pathways.
- Excellent active listening, de-escalation, record-keeping, and communication skills.
- Empathetic, resilient, non-judgemental, and capable of working independently or as part of a shift pattern.
