We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team at our Morton manor care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, tasty meals that meet the dietary needs of residents. The ideal applicant will have a passion for food preparation and experience working in a care or hospitality environment, ensuring all meals are prepared safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
- Plan menus that cater to residents’ preferences and special dietary needs
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and served in line with food safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to hygiene regulations
- Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste
- Assist with meal service, ensuring timely delivery of hot and cold dishes
- Record food temperatures and maintain accurate documentation for health inspections
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate specific dietary restrictions or allergies
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to prepare a variety of meals suitable for different dietary requirements
- Excellent organisational skills to manage meal planning and stock control effectively
- Good communication skills to work collaboratively with care staff and residents
- Previous experience in a care home or healthcare environment is desirable but not essential
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
