Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated and ambitious Sous Chef to join our dynamic friendly team. We are a busy family run Cafe and Deli serving a variety of food to eat in and takeaway, from great British classics, to Middle Eastern and Mediterranean inspired flavours. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, culinary experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service to help us expand and grow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations, design new menus and ensure the high standards of food safety and quality are maintained whilst managing daily kitchen activities.
Duties
- Assist in supervising kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are met
- Support in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels
- Lead by example in food preparation, cooking, and plating to uphold quality standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Assist in training new team members and providing ongoing coaching to existing staff
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to coordinate service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Contribute to menu planning, development, and innovation alongside the Head Chef
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the kitchen
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen setting
- Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation
- Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to motivate staff effectively
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Experience working in a hospitality or restaurant environment is highly desirable
- Familiarity with serving procedures and customer service principles is advantageous
- Previous leadership roles demonstrating responsibility for kitchen performance and staff development
