Role Purpose
To take full ownership of inventory accuracy across all Rhinox stock locations. The Stock Controller will run the rolling (cycle) count programme, investigate and resolve variances, maintain accurate stock records by location in Business Central, and provide the business with reliable, audit-ready inventory information. This is a hands-on, site-based UK role that combines time on the warehouse floor with analytical work, and is central to controlling working capital and supporting the weekly, monthly and yearly stock accuracy as well as year-end audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Stock accuracy and counting
- Own and deliver the rolling stock take programme by bay, bin, location or item group throughout the year, in line with the Rolling Stock Take Policy.
- Plan and lead periodic full physical stock takes and coordinate the count teams.
- Perform blind counts and reconcile counted quantities against Business Central book quantities.
- Investigate all variances thoroughly before any adjustment is posted, establishing root cause.
- Ensure Non Conformance returns are received and located correctly.
Inventory records and system control
- Maintain accurate inventory records by location, correcting location errors via warehouse movements/transfers rather than financial adjustments wherever possible.
- Post inventory adjustments only after investigation, evidence and the appropriate approvals.
- Keep a clear audit trail from physical count through to the final Business Central posting.
- Produce inventory valuation and location reports as at set dates for audit purposes.
- Reconcile the Business Central inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger, resolving any differences with the Finance team.
- Manage goods-received-not-invoiced (GRNI) and period-end cut-off so that receipts and adjustments are recorded in the correct accounting period.
- Maintain inventory master data, including bin, zone and location set-up, units of measure and min/max reorder levels, to reduce the risk of variances at source.
Goods-in, returns and non-conformance
- Checks on inbound container deliveries from suppliers against purchase orders and packing lists, verifying quantities, part numbers and condition on receipt, and raise a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for any shortage, overage, damage or incorrect item.
- Check in non-conforming stock (NCRs) returned to site, reconcile it against the original NCR and returns paperwork, and ensure each item is quarantined, returned to the supplier, reworked or booked back into sellable stock in Business Central.
- Own the quarantine and hold location in Business Central, controlling all movements in and out of it and keeping a clear audit trail.
- Feed delivery accuracy and non-conformance trends back to Supply Chain to support supplier performance management.
Stock optimisation and reporting
- Produce and report inventory KPIs (count accuracy, variance value, inventory days) to Operations and Finance.
- Manage the stock write-off and disposal process, ensuring obsolete, damaged or non-conforming items are authorised and posted in line with agreed approval limits.
Collaboration and continuous improvement
- Work closely with the Warehouse, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance teams.
- Identify recurring process issues and drive corrective actions with the Warehouse Manager and Operations Lead.
- Support the ongoing roll-out of multiple warehouse locations and scanning enforcement.
- Work safely at all times, following manual handling and site health and safety procedures on the warehouse floor and around materials-handling equipment.
