We're looking for a dedicated Learning & Behaviour Mentor to join a thriving specialist school supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with students aged 9–16, helping them build confidence, develop positive behaviours and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
Working as part of a highly supportive team, you'll build meaningful relationships with pupils, using a trauma-informed approach to help them regulate emotions, engage with learning and develop the skills they need for the future.
About the School
This welcoming and forward-thinking special school provides education for pupils aged 4–16 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), alongside a specialist SEMH provision for students aged 9–16.

The Role
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and become a consistent role model.
- Support students to regulate emotions and manage behaviour using trauma-informed approaches.
- Encourage engagement with learning and remove barriers to education.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
- Work alongside teachers to support personalised learning.
- Help create a calm, safe and structured learning environment.
- Liaise with families and external professionals to support positive outcomes for pupils.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is calm under pressure, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
Experience in SEN, SEMH, alternative provision, youth work, residential care, mental health services, coaching or other challenging environments would be highly desirable.
