We are expanding our collaborative network and are seeking an experienced Independent Paediatric Occupational Therapist to work alongside us across the Yorkshire region .
This opportunity is ideal for a self-employed therapist who values flexibility, professional autonomy, and collaborative working within a supportive multidisciplinary framework.
Role Overview
As an independent collaborator, you will assess, plan, and deliver individualised occupational therapy interventions that support children in developing essential skills for daily living, learning, and participation.
You will work in partnership with families, schools, and our multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and meaningful outcomes for each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments addressing children’s physical, sensory, emotional, and environmental needs.
- Develop and implement personalised, evidence-based intervention programmes aligned with each child’s developmental goals.
- Deliver therapy to support skills in self-care, play, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor development, and school-based tasks.
- Provide practical strategies and training to parents, caregivers, and educational professionals.
- Monitor progress and adapt treatment plans to maximise outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, educators, and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with HCPC and organisational standards.
- Participate in case discussions and contribute to a holistic, child-centred approach.
- Stay up to date with developments in paediatric occupational therapy practice.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of paediatric developmental milestones and therapeutic techniques.
- Experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, developmental delay, and sensory processing differences.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaborative relationships.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Confident in delivering therapy across home, school, and community settings.
- Proficient in maintaining electronic clinical records.
- Compassionate, strengths-based, and child-centred approach.
Qualifications & Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy from a recognised programme.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Membership with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) preferred.
- Professional indemnity insurance.
- Previous experience in paediatric clinical or educational settings.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands.
Desirable Experience
- Additional training or certification in:
- Sensory Integration
- Neurodevelopmental Therapy
- Feeding Therapy
- Experience supporting children with complex needs.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
