Self-Employed Gardener – 1–2 Days Per Week | East Sussex
Consciously Grown is looking for an experienced self-employed gardener to join us for 1–2 days per week, working across beautiful private gardens in Kent.
We’re looking for someone down-to-earth, reliable and genuinely competent in garden maintenance - someone who understands plants, knows what good garden care looks like and is happy getting stuck into a full day’s physical work.
The work
You’ll be carrying out high-quality garden maintenance, including:
- Pruning and caring for shrubs and established planting
- Weeding, edging and maintaining beds and borders
- Hedge cutting and shaping
- Lawn mowing and general lawn care
- Planting and seasonal garden work
- Using a strimmer, hedge cutter, mower and other standard garden machinery confidently and safely
- Identifying plants and understanding what needs doing, when and why
- Keeping gardens looking tidy, considered and properly cared for
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to be a garden designer or have an impressive list of qualifications. You do need to know your way around a garden.
You should:
- Have solid practical gardening / horticultural experience
- Have a good working knowledge of plants and garden maintenance
- Be confident using a strimmer, hedge cutter and lawn mower
- Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors for a full 8-hour day
- Work efficiently without needing constant direction
- Have a good eye for detail and take pride in leaving a garden looking noticeably better
- Be reliable, friendly and comfortable working around clients and their homes
- Be genuinely self-employed and looking to add 1–2 days per week to your existing work
- Have your own transport and be able to travel to gardens across Wadhurst and some other parts of East Sussex.
Hours
1–2 days per week
8-hour working days
Regular ongoing work for the right person
Self-employed / subcontract basis
We’re a growing garden design and maintenance company with a strong focus on beautiful, thoughtfully maintained gardens. We care much more about finding someone capable, dependable and good with plants than someone who can simply tick boxes on a CV.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Please send us a little about your gardening experience, where you’re based and your current availability.
Pay: £110.00-£120.00 per day
