Road Surfacing Labourer – E-Works Gang
Location: Doncaster, with travel to sites as required

Normal working hours: 6:30am–4:00pm

Derek Lewis Ltd is looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking Road Surfacing Labourer to join our E-Works Gang.
The successful candidate will support the Company’s road surfacing operations, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. This is a physically demanding, site-based role involving manual handling, powered hand tools and working near hot surfacing materials.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A valid CSCS card.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
- The physical ability to undertake manual work and remain on their feet for extended periods.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- A reliable, flexible and professional approach to work.
Previous road surfacing, construction or civil engineering experience would be advantageous.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Company’s road surfacing operations, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Assist with road surfacing works, including working near hot surfacing materials and hot bitumen.
- Undertake manual handling activities throughout the working day.
- Use powered hand tools, wheelbarrows and other equipment safely and correctly.
- Drive Company vans and other authorised vehicles.
- Travel to and from sites in Company vehicles, which may involve long periods of driving.
- Follow all reasonable instructions issued by Supervisors and Foremen.
- Work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors and management.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved method statements, risk assessments and safe working procedures.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and complete duties professionally.
- Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents or equipment defects immediately.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
