Job Title: Packing Operative
Responsible to: Team Leader / Team Manager
Main Role:
To pack products on the production line safely, accurately, and hygienically, ensuring all items meet company standards for weight, quality, and presentation.
Main Duties:
- Pack products on the production line in line with specified weights, pack sizes, and daily production requirements.
- Follow photocard or product specification sheets to ensure correct packaging and product standards are met.
- Check all labels are correct for each product before use.
- Operate sealing machines where applicable (following training) and ensure products are sealed correctly.
- Hand seal larger portion meals with the correct packaging and lids.
- Maintain accurate packing records as required.
- Clean down equipment and work areas between product changes.
- Carry out full end-of-shift cleaning of packing areas, equipment, and machinery.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment at all times.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures, including manual handling guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and adhere to company dress code requirements.
- Work flexibly across departments as required to support production.
- Carry out any other duties as required to support the day-to-day running of the factory (following training).
Key Skills:
- Good attention to detail when packing and checking products.
- Ability to work on a fast-paced production line.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to carry out repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
- Basic numeracy skills for weights and quantities.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Awareness of manual handling practices.
Shift Pattern:
Weekend (Saturday & Sunday) – 7am to 4pm (30 minute unpaid break)
Contracted Hours:
17 hours per week
