Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Workshop Plant Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating plant equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with electrical systems, and proficiency with various hand and power tools. Duties
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plant machinery, including excavators, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
- Fabricate components and parts using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques in accordance with schematics and technical drawings
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely to perform repairs, modifications, or assembly tasks
- Repair or replace faulty electrical wiring, switches, motors, or components as required
- Assist in the fabrication of custom parts or modifications to improve equipment performance
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies
Skills
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, and electrical systems
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts
- Experience in equipment repair and preventative maintenance programmes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Customer service orientation when liaising with internal departments or external clients regarding equipment issues
