About Mabilla Energy & Metals Ltd
Mabilla Energy & Metals Ltd (Company No. 08181942) is a UK company operating two growing business streams: the international trade of gold and precious metals between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and professional energy consultancy led by our Director, a chartered energy professional with over twenty years' experience across NEPA/PHCN, the UK's National Grid, and Siemens. We are based at North Westgate House, Harlow, Essex.
The role

Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain an AML compliance framework appropriate to a UK metals trading company, including transaction monitoring and KYC onboarding for suppliers and buyers.
- Conduct risk assessments of trading activities, presenting findings and mitigations to the Director.
- Monitor changes to UK financial regulation, HMRC guidance on precious metals, and sector-specific AML rules.
- Maintain records in line with the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and Money Laundering Regulations 2017.
- Review and approve new supplier and buyer relationships from a compliance perspective, including enhanced due diligence on high-risk counterparties.
- Conduct periodic internal compliance audits and produce written audit reports.
What we are looking for (essential)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Economics, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a compliance, risk, or financial crime role.
- Working knowledge of UK AML legislation (Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, Money Laundering Regulations 2017) and related FCA/HMRC guidance.
- Experience conducting KYC/CDD/EDD reviews to an auditable standard.
- Strong report-writing skills.
Desirable
- ICA Certificate in AML, CISI Compliance qualification, or equivalent.
- Exposure to commodities trading, precious metals, or financial services.
- Experience of regulator-facing reporting (e.g. SARs to the NCA).
