Senior Technical Consultant
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Consultant to join our growing technology consulting team in Chelmsford. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled technology professional to deliver innovative IT solutions that help clients optimize business operations, modernize technology platforms, and achieve their digital transformation objectives.
As a Senior Technical Consultant, you will work closely with clients, solution architects, software engineers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to understand business requirements, design scalable technical solutions, and oversee successful project delivery. You will provide expert technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with industry best practices.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional consulting skills, broad technical expertise, and the ability to build strong client relationships while delivering high-quality technology solutions across diverse enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical consulting engagements from discovery and requirements gathering through solution design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Analyse client business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and cost-effective technology solutions.
- Design enterprise architectures and technical solutions that align with business objectives and long-term technology strategies.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the software development and infrastructure implementation lifecycle.
- Conduct technical workshops, solution demonstrations, architecture reviews, and stakeholder presentations.
- Collaborate with software developers, cloud engineers, infrastructure specialists, cybersecurity professionals, and project managers.
- Support cloud migration, application modernization, infrastructure transformation, and digital innovation initiatives.
- Develop solution documentation, technical specifications, implementation plans, and architectural diagrams.
- Identify project risks, technical dependencies, and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure all solutions comply with security standards, governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Support pre-sales activities by preparing technical proposals, project estimates, and client presentations.
- Mentor junior consultants and technical team members while promoting engineering best practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency and business value.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure long-term project success.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant experience in technical consulting, solution architecture, enterprise software development, or infrastructure consulting.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience designing enterprise applications, infrastructure solutions, and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, cloud security, identity management, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation), and automation tools.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as C#, Java, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or TypeScript is highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, virtualization platforms, and enterprise collaboration technologies.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, IT governance, GDPR, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF, ITIL Foundation, PRINCE2, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements while delivering projects within agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and technology innovation.
