An intelligent 53yr disabled woman is looking for one or more people to work as a personal assistant/carer. The number of hours will depend on availability and how many people employed. There is some limited flexibility in timing and shift lengths but these are constrained around medication times.
Regular shifts currently available are as follows:
Sunday evening for 1hr with start 8pm or later
Monday evening for 1hr with start 8pm or later
Tuesday evening shift of 1-2hr with start 9pm or later.
Wednesday evening shift of 2hr with start 8pm or later
Thursday evening shift of 2hr with start 8pm or later
Friday evening shift of 1hr between 7 - 9pm
Intermittent Saturday day shift of 2hr sometime between late morning to early afternoon start. (Average of every other week when my parents don’t visit.)
Sunday morning shift when attending church of 2 - 3hrs approx, starting at 10:30am.
In addition help is needed for irregular jobs such as accompanying to go shopping or to medical appointments. Pre-covid there were even trips to events and TV audiences etc. Some outings can involve going to church or other faith related activities.
The personal faith of applicant does not need to be the same as employer, but a willingness to potentially accompany/assist her to church (Cowplain Evangelical Church) would be advantageous.
The role is basically to provide whatever assistance is required to meet the employers needs allowing her to stay in her own home and have as high a quality of life as possible within her medical and disability limitations.
Tasks can include: personal care, treating small sores and injuries, cleaning, washing up, preparing food, serving food, overseeing and ensuring medication is taken, preparing weekly medication boxes, ensuring sufficient drink, helping with equipment when needed, washing hair, changing bed, household tasks, moving/getting things, shopping, keeping an eye on general condition and seeking help if needed...etc. The role is of Personal Assistant so it is wider than purely being a carer, though includes that. Tasks can be anything that is needed by the employer at the time (within reason!)
Please note:
1) Because of the personal nature of the job, FEMALE applicants ONLY.
2) No smokers (employer uses oxygen)
3) Driving license will be required unless living near enough geographically to be a short walk away, even then it will be preferred.
4) Please do not apply if you live outside the area. This is part-time and cannot offer sponsorship to overseas applicants, please don’t apply.
5) Please do not apply for the sake of applying for any job or a required number of job applications. Employer is very unwell and does not have the energy to invest time in the application process with anyone not genuinely seeking employment.
6) The job is 0 hour contract (allows for flexibility in shifts) and self-employed. This means carers present an invoice at the end of each month and full payment is then paid with tax and NI the responsibility of the carer. However, the amount earned in this job is not likely to require tax anyway. More details can be discussed at interview as needed. If you believe this job is right for you but you have concerns about this, apply anyway and highlight this and it can be seen if this is suitable for you or not.
7) Applicants do not need to share the employers Christian faith or have any religious faith but bad language, especially blasphemy, is not appreciated. Slips are understood but if you cannot control regular use of such language then this role is not for you.
All shifts have the option for varying degrees of flexibility so if you think you might be able to cover one or more shifts then please apply. If you are the right person then details will be worked out together as required.
In addition to the hours listed above is the need for cover when staff are off sick or on holiday. Anyone interested in a job but not wanting anything regular or not able to do the shifts listed are still welcome to apply to take this role.
Experience is not a prerequisite but honesty, reliability, flexibility and a good sense of humour are!
