The Swan is a beautifully restored 16th-century coaching inn at the heart of Tarporley, offering a warm welcome, locally sourced food, boutique accommodation, and outstanding hospitality to both locals and visitors alike.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Manager to support our General Manager in leading our fantastic team and delivering memorable guest experiences every day.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you'll be at the heart of our operation, helping to lead the front-of-house team while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the business. You'll be a hands-on leader who leads by example, motivates the team, and maintains the high standards our guests expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the pub, restaurant and hotel.
- Lead, inspire and develop the front-of-house team.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure every guest leaves wanting to return.
- Drive sales through excellent service and team engagement.
- Manage shifts, staffing levels and labour costs effectively.
- Assist with stock control, ordering and GP management.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, licensing and health & safety regulations.
- Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve any issues positively.
- Help recruit, train and develop new team members.

- Has previous management or supervisory experience within hospitality.
- Is passionate about food, drink and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Leads from the front with energy, enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Is highly organised and thrives under pressure.
- Has excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Is commercially aware and focused on delivering results.
- Is flexible to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
