Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and motivated Team Leader to join our Residential Children’s Care team in Morecambe, Lancashire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities while making a lasting and positive impact on the lives of young people within a specialist residential care setting.
Working closely with the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in leading shifts, supporting staff development, and ensuring the home delivers high-quality, child-centred care within a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the residential care team during shifts, ensuring high standards of care are consistently maintained
- Act as a Key Worker for children and young people, building trusting relationships and advocating for their needs
- Support care planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to newer staff members within the home
- Deputise for the Deputy Manager when required, including weekend leadership responsibilities
- Promote positive behaviour management and maintain firm, fair, and consistent boundaries
- Support children with daily routines, education, emotional wellbeing, and independence
- Participate in sleeping-in duties and contribute to the on-call rota where required
- Ensure compliance with residential childcare regulations, policies, and safeguarding standards
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and communication with the wider care team and management
- Create a positive, supportive, and structured home environment for children and young people
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote the best outcomes for children in care
Requirements
- Proven experience within a residential children’s care setting, ideally at Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader level
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to set firm and fair boundaries whilst maintaining a child-centred approach
- Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient in challenging situations
- Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) is desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Flexibility to work a 2 days on, 4 days off shift pattern, including sleeping-in duties
- Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding practices
Pay: From £34,050.00 per year
