Job Description – Nursery Manager
Smarties Day Nursery is a lovely 30 place nursery with a dedicated hardworking team who are passionate about ensuring every opportunity is filled with love, laughter, awe, and learning. We have a strong family atmosphere, and we prepare children exceptionally well for their first steps towards primary school. Job Purpose:
The responsibilities include:
- To create a safe, caring, and welcoming setting in which parents are happy to entrust their child, and where their child is encouraged and supported to flourish in an enabling and stimulating environment.
- Strong leadership and management skills to ensure the setting can provide outstanding childcare to our children and families, and that it is an enjoyable place to work for staff.
- Daily running and administration of the nursery.
- To lead the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage including overseeing planning and record keeping.
- Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities for the nursery to promote the health, safety and welfare of children and employees and families in line with our child protection policy.
- Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver exceptional care, education and provide feedback to create a consistent approach of early years practice to include but not limited to regular 1:1 meetings, supervisions and appraisals.
- Managing Staff ratios, waiting list, registration visits and ensuring the nursery is at full occupancy.
- Responsibility for full compliance of the nursery setting in all areas – i.e., health and safety, food safety and allergy management.
- Implement and reinforce the company policies, procedures, and processes.
- Providing parents with information, support and communication that is required.
- Working closely with external support agencies.
- Delivering standards which ensure the highest possible inspection grading.
- Have excellent knowledge on the financial aspect with regards to fees and invoices.
- Implement in-house and external training to suit the needs of the staff team, and one that inspires and leads ambitious practice, and helps professional and personal development.
- Skills/Qualifications:
- A full and relevant level 3 qualification or above
- DBS enhanced disclosure
- Safeguarding training and qualification
- Minimum of 3 year’s post qualifying experience
- Sound IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office programmes, social media platforms and online portals effectively
- Outstanding implementation of the OFSTED standards/regulations
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of SEND support provision
