Additional payments: Travel paid and accommodation allowance of £373.73 per week for eligible travelling labour
UEC Mechanical Engineering Ltd is recruiting experienced Riggers for a long-term engineering project within a major industrial facility in the Immingham area.
Role responsibilities
- Prepare loads for lifting, moving and positioning in accordance with approved lift plans and site procedures.
- Establish load weights and confirm that lifting equipment and accessories are suitable and within capacity.
- Select, inspect and safely use slings, shackles, chain blocks, hoists and other lifting equipment.
- Attach, secure, guide and release loads while maintaining clear communication with crane operators and the lifting team.
- Ensure loads remain balanced, controlled and protected throughout lifting and moving operations.
- Assist with dismantling and moving engineering assemblies using approved methods and sequences.
- Follow lift plans, permits, risk assessments, method statements and site safety procedures.
- Inspect lifting accessories before use and report any defects, damage or safety concerns immediately.
- Work alongside Supervisors, Crane Operators and other trades to meet the project programme.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
Essential requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Moving Engineering Construction Loads or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Relevant and current rigging and lifting certification.
- Previous rigging experience within a refinery, petrochemical, power generation or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of safe lifting practices, load control and lifting accessories.
- Ability to understand lift plans, risk assessments and method statements.
- Strong understanding of permit-to-work systems and industrial site safety requirements.
- Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a lifting team.
- Reliable and professional approach to work.
Contract details
Pay: NAECI rates of pay, including the applicable payments stated above
Hours: 44 hours per week - 9.5 hours Monday to Thursday and 6 hours on Friday
Duration: Approximately 9-12 months
