After growing Gay Social Club across Australia, we’ve expanded into the UK, and now we’re growing our London host team!
We’re looking for confident, friendly and community-minded people who are brilliant at making others feel included.
This isn’t about standing on a stage or formally running an event. It’s about being the friendly face members look for when they arrive, introducing people, helping conversations get started and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Welcome members and help them settle in
- Make introductions and bring people into conversations
- Keep the event feeling social, relaxed and inclusive
- Check in with anyone who arrives alone or seems unsure
- Communicate with venue staff when needed
- Capture a few casual photos and videos during the event
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’re naturally social, emotionally aware and comfortable approaching new people. You notice when somebody is standing alone and know how to include them without making it awkward.
You’ll also be reliable, organised and genuinely passionate about creating welcoming spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community.
We’d especially love to hear from people who understand the community and what can make walking into an LGBTQIA+ social space alone feel intimidating. Whether that comes from your own lived experience, community involvement, work, volunteering or simply being someone who genuinely cares about creating inclusive spaces, we want to hear about it.
Experience in events, hospitality, entertainment or community work is helpful, but it isn’t essential. The way you make people feel matters most.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- £35 per event
- Events run for approximately two hours
- Usually one to four events available each week
- Flexible freelance arrangement
- Evening and weekend availability required
- Complimentary Gay Social Club membership
You can put yourself forward for events that suit your availability. Events and hours are not guaranteed, and hosts invoice for the events they complete.

After building thriving communities across Australia, we’ve expanded Gay Social Club into London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, to give more LGBTQIA+ people an easy and welcoming way to meet outside of dating apps and traditional nightlife.
Our members come together for drinks, dinners, trivia, activities, workshops and relaxed social experiences, with plenty arriving completely on their own.
Our hosts help make that first step feel much less intimidating.
HOW TO APPLY

- Why creating welcoming LGBTQIA+ spaces matters to you
- Why you think you’d be great at making someone arriving alone feel comfortable
- Your general evening and weekend availability
We’d also love to see your personality. You’re welcome to include your social media, send us a short video through Instagram or introduce yourself in whatever way feels most natural.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to travel to venues across London.
Pay: £35.00-£70.00 per week
