Children’s Residential Support Worker
Hours: Full-time
Shift Pattern: Including sleep-in shifts
Driving: Full UK driving licence essential
We are looking for caring, reliable and dedicated Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our team and provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in a residential setting.
This is a rewarding role where you will help children and young people feel safe, supported and valued, while helping them develop their independence and achieve their goals.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Provide day-to-day care, support and supervision to children and young people.
- Build positive, trusting and professional relationships.
- Support children with their emotional and practical needs.
- Encourage education, activities, hobbies and positive experiences.
- Support children to develop independence and life skills.
- Prepare meals and maintain a clean, safe and welcoming home.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
- Complete accurate daily records, handovers and incident reports.
- Work closely with colleagues, families, social workers and other professionals.
- Respond appropriately to challenging situations and follow agreed procedures.
- Undertake sleep-in shifts as part of the rota.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- A caring, patient and supportive approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Understanding of safeguarding and the responsibilities involved in working with children.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in shifts.
- Commitment to providing high standards of care.
Desirable
- Experience working within children's residential care.
- Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex or challenging needs.
- Safeguarding and/or first aid training.
