Job Overview
We are a boat building and marine engineering company seeking a reliable and experienced Site Operative to join our team. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day site operations, with a strong focus on telehandler work, safe movement of materials and equipment, and practical support across multiple departments. Over time, there will be opportunities to develop your skills and move into one of our trade pathways, with the potential to progress to higher pay rates if desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lift trucks/telehandlers to move materials, machinery, and equipment safely around site.
- Organise and maintain external site areas, including access routes, waste areas, fencing, and signage.
- Carry out and support planned maintenance tasks across the facility.
- Assist with production and project-related tasks where required.
- Support trades and site managers with lifting, shifting, basic preparation work, and other non-technical tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness in work and welfare areas, including sweeping, tidying, and waste disposal.
- Drive company vehicles for errands or deliveries where appropriately licensed.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a yard, site operative, or similar practical support role.
- Relevant plant tickets/licences, particularly for telehandler operation.
- Confidence moving materials safely around a busy site using machinery.
- A good understanding of site layout, logistics, and general site organisation.
- Ability to support trades and projects as needed in a flexible, hands-on environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site teams.
- Awareness of basic health and safety principles, including PPE and traffic management.
- A proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help wherever needed.
