Here at Sitting Pretty we design and engineer the highest quality riser recliner chairs and motion furniture in the UK.
Due to continuing growth we are looking for a experienced Quality Control Operative at our busy factory in South Normanton DE55 2FX.
A Quality Control Operative is responsible for inspecting and preparing finished furniture products to ensure they meet company quality standards before dispatch. The role involves hands-on inspection, testing of mechanical components, and accurate completion of documentation.
DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Control team are responsible for checking all chairs and beds against the established quality standards. A Quality Control Employee refers to the process of inspecting and verifying furniture products to ensure they meet specified standards for design, durability, finish and safety before they reach the customer.
The Quality Control team report to the Quality Control Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Visual inspection - Check for defects: Scratches, dents, stains, cracks or colour mismatches.
- Ensure correct finish
- Structural inspection - Test for sturdiness and stability
- Measurement verification - Confirm dimensions against design specs.
- Functionality testing - For items like recliners, drawers or adjustable pieces - verify smooth operation.
- Packaging and labeling check - ensure the product is properly protected and labeled for safe delivery
- Documentation - Record defects, inspection results and corrective action taken
- Trimming all loose threads
- Attaching all cushions to chairs
- Filling Cushions with Fibres
- Blowing chair down from dust and dirt
- Testing all components of the mechanism to ensure they all work efficiently
- Ensuring handsets match up to paperwork
- Filling out paperwork (Checksheet) to ensure testing is complete
- Updating computers of chairs arrivals
- Obtaining correct labels for specific Companies
- Replenishing stock levels
- Attaching fire label to chair
- Ensuring 2 batteries with each chair if they have a battery back up adapter
- Ensuring correct adaptor with each chair
- Checking chair thoroughly to ensure everything matches the ticket and ensuring quality is up to standard
- Reporting any issues with the chair to the Supervisor/Manager
- Filing labels in numerical order
- Ensuring workplace is clean, tidy and safe
- Measuring height, depth, width and back height of each chair
- Taking photos of the chair and emailing them for record
- Organise the emails of the photos into folders
- Printing labels
- Checking Correct feet are on the chairs
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Good communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of the product range
- Able to work under pressure
- Excellent attention to detail
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Secondary school education or above
