About YEMEN HEAVEN
YEMEN HEAVEN is an award-winning independent restaurant in the heart of York, known for warm hospitality, refined service and authentic Yemenite cuisine.
We are looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day Front of House operation, lead the team during service and maintain consistently high standards across the restaurant.
This is a genuine management position suited to someone with strong restaurant experience, leadership ability and a serious interest in building a long-term career with YEMEN HEAVEN.
The Role
The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing the restaurant’s day-to-day Front of House operation
- Leading service and maintaining control during busy periods
- Conducting pre-service briefings and allocating staff sections and responsibilities
- Managing staff rotas, availability, punctuality and attendance
- Recruiting, onboarding, training and developing Front of House team members
- Monitoring employee performance and providing structured feedback
- Ensuring staff follow the restaurant’s service standards and operating procedures
- Managing reservations, large bookings and guest requirements
- Handling guest complaints professionally and resolving service issues
- Overseeing opening, closing, cashing-up and EPOS procedures
- Monitoring beverage stock and coordinating orders with suppliers
- Supporting the development of the wine, cocktail, coffee and tea programme
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation
- Supporting compliance with licensing, health and safety and food-safety procedures
- Reporting operational issues, staffing needs and performance to the directors
- Identifying opportunities to improve service, efficiency and guest satisfaction
The Restaurant Manager will be expected to take a visible and hands-on leadership role during service. However, this is not primarily a waiter or standard Front of House position.
What We Are Looking For
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager, Assistant Restaurant Manager or experienced restaurant supervisor
- Strong experience within a busy table-service restaurant
- The ability to lead, organise and motivate a Front of House team
- Excellent reliability, punctuality and professional conduct
- A strong sense of urgency and operational awareness
- Confidence managing several priorities during busy services
- Experience training and developing staff
- Strong guest-service and complaint-handling skills
- Good knowledge of restaurant service, food and beverages
- Confidence using EPOS, reservation and cash-handling systems
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- A genuine interest in developing with YEMEN HEAVEN over the long term
Training and Progression
The successful candidate will receive structured training in YEMEN HEAVEN’s service standards, menu, drinks programme, systems and operating procedures.

- Base salary of £31,300 to £41,700, depending on the applicable immigration requirements and experience

Sponsorship may be considered for applicants who:
- Were granted permission as a Skilled Worker under the Immigration Rules in force before 22 July 2025
- Have the experience and ability required to perform this genuine Restaurant Manager position
Applicants who do not meet the transitional Skilled Worker requirements must already have an independent right to work in the UK.
This position cannot provide Skilled Worker sponsorship to first-time Skilled Worker applicants who do not qualify under the transitional rules.
