About Etech Mobility
Etech Mobility is a UK mobility brand selling electric wheelchairs, scooters, manual chairs and accessories. We sell primarily online, supported by showrooms in Birmingham and Glasgow. Our customers are primarily older adults, people with mobility needs, and their families. They need a service model that respects the complexity and emotional weight of what they're buying. That shapes everything about how our showrooms operate.
We're at an inflection point. Manchester and London are our next two openings, both in early planning. Getting them from planning to first-day-open is your first-year work. It starts with location analysis (no units secured yet), then the standard launch operating loop once the lease is signed. Target is both open within a few months of each other, from early next year. Further UK expansion follows.
The role
You report to the General Manager. You own the people side, the standards side, and the commercial side of every showroom in the network. You also lead location analysis and recommend suitable units for each new opening: catchment research, competitor mapping, footfall, unit fit. Lease negotiations and physical fit-out are handled by the CEO and a supporting team, though we lean on your view for fit-out decisions too. Your focus is making each showroom operate well from Day 1 and keep operating well as the network grows.
The core work over the next 24 months is opening showrooms at pace and holding quality while doing it. Manchester and London are the immediate priority, in early planning. From there, a sustained run of new openings across the UK's major cities. Every launch starts with your location analysis and unit recommendation. Once the CEO approves the shortlist and secures the lease, every launch needs: Lead Consultant recruited, Sales Consultants hired and trained, standards enforced from the first day open, mystery-shop programme running, and the site hitting its SLA within 12 weeks of opening.
Direct reports and interactions
- Lead Consultants at each showroom (currently Birmingham + Glasgow, growing as the network expands)
- Sales Consultants (via Leads)
- Cross-function work with the General Manager (line manager) and our wider customer service, workshop & warehouse, and brand & marketing teams.
Location and working pattern
Birmingham HQ-based, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm baseline. Regular travel to every showroom: minimum monthly per site, more during launch ramp. Some Saturday visits during opening weeks of a new showroom or peak periods.
Who we're hiring for
An operator who can open showrooms at pace and hold quality while doing it. You've run multi-site retail before, so you know what happens when standards slip in Week 3 of a new opening if you don't stay on it. You're organised enough to hold multiple concurrent launches without letting the existing sites drift. You're honest about what's working and what isn't, and you close difficult conversations quickly rather than letting them linger.
The comp is structured so what we advertise is what you actually earn, tied to concrete launch outcomes, not aspirational revenue growth. If that structure doesn't excite you, this probably isn't the right role.
Compensation
Designed to reflect the shape of the work: a solid base for the day-to-day multi-site management, a capped quality bonus tied to standards, and meaningful uncapped upside per clean launch (because launches are the biggest lever this role has). Full detail provided to shortlisted candidates.
- Base: £45,000–£50,000, offered based on multi-site experience and launch track record. Reviewed annually with tenure and performance.
- Quality bonus: up to 10% of base annually, gated on mystery-shop average ≥4/5, return rate <4%, CSAT ≥4.5. Paid at year-end review.
- Launch bonus: £5,000 per clean new-showroom launch, defined as the site's ramp curve hitting SLA targets within 12 weeks of opening. Uncapped.
Progression
This role scales with the network. As we grow into a multi-city presence and beyond, the natural next step for a strong operator is Regional Manager, taking responsibility for a cluster of sites while a new MSM comes in beneath. That's not a formal promise; it's what happens when the person and the moment align.
Skills and experience
- Multi-site retail or showroom leadership: 3+ years owning standards, training, and people development across 3+ sites. Area Manager, Multi-Site Manager, Regional Training Manager, or Operations Manager backgrounds all relevant.
- New-site launch experience: you've been personally responsible for opening at least 2 new sites. You know the difference between opening well and opening messy.
- Coaching and standards discipline: you don't rely on people caring about standards as much as you do; you build the systems that hold standards even when you're not in the room.
- Commercial property literacy: you can research a catchment, read footfall data, and spot the difference between a strong retail unit and a mediocre one. You've been the one making location recommendations before, even if you weren't the one signing leases.
- Commercial instinct: you understand the cost stack of a showroom (rent, staff, marketing) and you can identify where the lever is to grow margin without compromising service.
Probation
6-month probation. Full Manager responsibilities and pay from day one. The probation review at Month 6 assesses: launch delivery on Manchester + London, operating rhythm established with Lead Consultants, network audit completion, and hiring outcomes for any in-progress launches. Probation confirmed at Month 6 subject to review.
