Edgbaston Priory Club is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Sports Attendant to join our Facilities Department as part of the Grounds Team.
This is a hands-on role responsible for preparing and maintaining the Club’s sports facilities, external areas and surrounding grounds to a high standard, ensuring members and guests enjoy clean, safe and well-presented facilities.
The role will have a particular focus on sports surface preparation, cleanliness and the presentation of the Club’s external areas, while also supporting the wider Grounds Team with routine maintenance and seasonal tasks.
The role will normally be worked Wednesday to Sunday, with early morning starts to ensure courts and facilities are fully prepared before members arrive. Flexibility will be required to support Club events, tournaments, adverse weather conditions and seasonal operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Sports Surface Preparation
- Prepare artificial sports surfaces for daily play, including hybrid clay, artificial clay and artificial grass courts.
- Drag mat, brush and line sweep courts to ensure optimum playing conditions.
- Carry out hand watering of hybrid clay courts as required.
- Prepare courts for coaching programmes, social play, competitions and tournaments.
- Set up and remove tennis nets, posts and court furniture as required.
- Carry out routine inspections of playing surfaces and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
Indoor Tennis Courts
- Assist with the daily cleaning and sweeping of indoor tennis courts.
- Carry out deep cleaning in line with the scheduled programme.
- Ensure indoor tennis courts are clean, safe and ready for member use.
Site Presentation & Cleanliness
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the Club’s external areas.
- Empty and clean site bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Carry out regular litter picking across the grounds, pathways, car parks and external areas.
- Clean exterior windows, entrance areas and other external surfaces.
- Clean and maintain the Club’s padel court glass.
- Support seasonal cleaning and presentation projects.
- Identify and report any issues affecting the appearance, cleanliness or safety of the Club’s grounds and facilities.
Grounds Maintenance Support
- Assist the Grounds Team with general grounds maintenance tasks.
- Support the maintenance of landscaped areas, pathways and surrounding infrastructure.
- Assist with keeping car parks clean, including seasonal leaf clearance.
- Inspect and clear exterior drains and gullies as required.
- Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance activities.
Equipment & Machinery
- Operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment safely and in accordance with Club procedures.
- Clean and store equipment after use.
- Carry out basic routine equipment maintenance where required.
- Report equipment defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
Health & Safety
- Work safely and in accordance with Club policies, procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
- Wear appropriate PPE when required.
- Report hazards, accidents, defects and maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain a positive, professional and courteous approach when interacting with members, guests and colleagues.

- Experience within a sports, leisure or hospitality environment.
- Experience operating grounds maintenance or cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of tennis court maintenance.
