About Us - Our Strategic Projects Division forms part of one of the UK’s leading national Mechanical & Electrical contractors, delivering complex building services and renewable energy projects across the UK.
Operating predominantly as a Principal Contractor, we specialise in delivering projects ranging from £500,000 to £4 million throughout the Education, Healthcare, Commercial and Private sectors.
Our portfolio includes commercial heating and cooling installations, renewable energy schemes, decarbonisation programmes, energy centres, Air Source Heat Pumps, Ground Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV and full Mechanical & Electrical refurbishment projects.
Backed by the strength of a national organisation whilst retaining the flexibility and culture of a specialist division, we continue to experience significant growth and are looking to strengthen our operational team.
The Opportunity - We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager to join our growing Strategic Projects Division.
Reporting directly to the Operational Manager and Divisional Leadership Team, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of Mechanical & Electrical projects across the UK.
This is a varied and rewarding role requiring a proactive individual who enjoys managing multiple stakeholders, leading project teams and delivering technically challenging projects safely, on programme and within budget.
Our office in Coleshill will be your operational base, however our projects are delivered nationwide and regular travel, including occasional overnight stays, will be required.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery -
- Manage Mechanical & Electrical projects from contract award through to completion.
- Deliver projects safely, on programme and within budget.
- Ensure full compliance with company procedures and client requirements.
- Develop and manage project programmes.
- Coordinate all project activities from mobilisation through commissioning and handover.
- Chair progress meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
Commercial Management -
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager to monitor project performance.
- Review project costs and forecasts.
- Manage procurement activities.
- Identify variations and commercial opportunities.
- Support the preparation of applications and final accounts.
- Ensure project profitability is maintained.
Site Leadership –
- Lead Site Managers, Engineers and Supervisors.
- Coordinate specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Maintain excellent Health & Safety performance.
- Carry out regular site inspections and progress reviews.
- Resolve technical and operational challenges.
Client Management -
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Attend project meetings.
- Provide regular progress reports.
- Manage consultant and client expectations.
- Promote repeat business opportunities.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Technical Coordination -
- Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical and specialist subcontractors.
- Review design information.
- Manage Contractor Design Portions (CDP).
- Coordinate commissioning activities.
- Ensure O&M manuals and as-built information are completed.
- Support successful project handover.
What We’re Looking For
Essential -
- Proven experience delivering Mechanical & Electrical projects.
- Minimum five years’ Project Management experience within Building Services.
- Strong understanding of Mechanical and Electrical installations.
- Experience managing projects valued between £500k and £4m.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Experience managing subcontractors.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
Applicants without formal qualifications will also be considered where they can demonstrate significant time-served experience successfully delivering complex multi-disciplinary Mechanical & Electrical projects.
Desirable -
Experience delivering:
- Air Source Heat Pump projects.
- Ground Source Heat Pump projects.
- Solar PV installations.
- Commercial boiler replacements.
- Energy Centres.
- Public sector frameworks.
- Education projects.
- Healthcare projects.
- Decarbonisation programmes.
Qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid and IOSH or NEBOSH are advantageous but not essential.
