Due to continued expansion, Mayglothling Waste Ltd is looking to recruit a Waste Disposal Chemist to join our Technical Operations Team at our Kington, Herefordshire facility.
We are a nationwide waste management company specialising in the collection, treatment and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Our services include sewage waste, domestic waste, industrial waste, waste oils and environmental services, supporting customers across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a chemistry or environmental background who enjoys problem-solving, compliance and ensuring waste is managed safely and efficiently.
The Role
As a Waste Disposal Chemist, you will play a key role in ensuring waste streams are correctly identified, classified and processed in accordance with environmental legislation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and classifying incoming sewage, domestic and other waste streams.
- Providing technical advice on waste acceptance and disposal routes.
- Ensuring compliance with Environmental Agency regulations and duty of care requirements.
- Reviewing waste analysis reports and determining suitable treatment methods.
- Supporting laboratory testing where required.
- Liaising with customers regarding waste characterisation and disposal options.
- Producing technical documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting operational teams with waste handling procedures.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining high environmental standards.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Qualification in Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong understanding of chemical principles.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
- Experience within waste management, environmental services or hazardous waste.
- Knowledge of WM3 Waste Classification Guidance.
- Understanding of Environmental Permitting Regulations.
- Experience with sewage, wastewater or domestic waste treatment.
- Laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste legislation.
