Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Guest Service Officer to join our retail team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers, staff, and visitors while delivering excellent customer service. The role involves monitoring premises, preventing losses, responding to incidents, and ensuring a welcoming and secure shopping experience at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provide a visible security presence within the retail premises to deter theft, anti-social behaviour, and unauthorised activities.
- Greet customers and visitors professionally while maintaining a helpful and approachable manner.
- Monitor CCTV systems and conduct regular patrols of the premises.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, accidents, or suspicious activities.
- Carry out bag checks and loss prevention procedures in line with company policies.
- Assist with conflict management and de-escalate situations calmly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and report hazards where necessary.
- Complete incident reports and maintain accurate security records.
- Work closely with store management and staff to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist during emergency evacuations and follow emergency procedures when required.
- Support customer service operations by providing directions and assistance to customers when needed.
Requirements
- Valid SIA Licence.
- Previous experience in retail security, customer service, or a similar role is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Good observation and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and able to stand or patrol for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic report-writing and IT skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
