Forbury Gardens Day Nursery is seeking to appoint a Domestic/Kitchen assistant.
Hours of work- 8.30am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday
About the role
We are looking for a Domestic & Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly nursery team and help us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the children in our care.
This is a varied role, combining domestic cleaning duties with kitchen support, working closely with our Nursery Cook and Nursery Manager.
You don't need to have previous nursery experience, but we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and understands the importance of hygiene, safety and teamwork.
What you'll be doing
Your role will include:
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the nursery.
- Cleaning nursery rooms, toilets, staff areas, offices and other designated areas.
- Vacuuming, mopping, dusting and disinfecting surfaces and frequently touched areas.
- Emptying bins and supporting infection prevention and control procedures.
- Assisting the Nursery Cook with food preparation, serving meals, snacks and drinks.
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen surfaces, equipment and utensils.
- Following food hygiene, allergy, dietary and food safety procedures.
- Supporting the safe preparation and serving of food for babies and young children.
- Ensuring cleaning products, chemicals and kitchen equipment are used and stored safely.
- Reporting any hazards, damage, maintenance issues or equipment concerns.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery kitchen and domestic areas.
- Working as part of the wider nursery team to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of the children.

Previous experience in a cleaning, domestic, catering or kitchen environment would be an advantage, but is not essential. Full training and support will be provided.
