Little Crickets is located in an idyllic leafy environment at the foot of Alexandra Palace, all nestled away from the road noise, hustle and bustle. Our Daycare has sprawling grounds used for cricket in the weekends which for our Daycare, provides a perfect environment for a strong focus on free flow access and open space learning.

DAY TO DAY MANAGEMENT:
Oversee and be responsible for the operation of the nursery to the highest standards, ensuring that the best possible environment and care are provided for young children.
Answer the phone in an appropriate business manner and dealing with queries and requests accordingly and efficiently or taking a detailed message and passing it on to the appropriate person.
Manage daily tasks in accordance with priorities and delegate out as required in order to ensure effective delivery of each and every item.
Daily monitoring of staff ratios, staff allocation and management, delegation of staff to meet ratios, obtain supply staff if necessary and ensure the well-being and resolution of any issues that may arise with the staff, parents or children
Organise the staff to meet ratio’s, conducting new registrations and continually managing the rotas to ensure that the spaces are filled accordingly.
Work closely with the Director and the Team to ensure consistency in leadership
Make yourself available to show potential parents around the Setting and delegating the role to the Deputy Manager or other senior members of staff.
Liaise daily with the Director either in person, by telephone or via email with an update of any issues during the day. Contact the Managing Director immediately if necessary.
To ensure that Company rules and policies are followed at all times.
Check staffing and amend as necessary to accommodate changes and print off the following weeks rota by the end of the previous week and give to each room
Work alongside an office manager to a high level of communication to ensure that messages regarding children times and days are relayed effectively. Keep all data regarding children’s personal information up to date.
Regular supply orders are to be made with lists from each room and then approved by the Managing Director before orders are made
Equipment wish lists and orders to be passed on to the Managing Director
Monitor staff planning, observations and profiles on a regular basis
Carry out staff meetings as necessary
Manage the staffing with regard to recruitment, interviews, inductions, appraisals
and professional development needs.
Carry out peer observations, record them and evaluate them for actions to be taken
Build links and work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the well being of the children.
Develop and implement Early Years curriculum plans with support from the rest of the team, keeping up to date with current changes in legislation and government policy and monitoring progress to ensure paperwork is up to date and follows the EYFS guidelines.
Provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all the children, ensuring that all risk assessments are carried out daily in each room.
Develop, implement and review the policies, procedures and practices within the Nursery annually in coordination with the Management Team and other staff.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Undertake the daily management of the Nursery to ensure that high standards are developed and maintained throughout and provide appropriate activities to ensure that, whilst in the Nursery, children receive physical, emotional, social and intellectual development, giving consideration to families ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds whilst maintaining relationships with parents and carers on the admission, care and education of children to ensure that the diverse needs of the children are met.
Organise the recruitment and selection of Nursery Staff making sure that those appointed are qualified and possess the skills required to work in the nursery. Maintain records and liaise with office manager to ensure that all staff have contracts and the correct procedures relating to employment eg CRB checks are followed and organise Nursery staff in the provision of developmentally suitable and varied activities to ensure that children receive the appropriate care.
Keep abreast of legislation, guidelines, policies etc. to ensure the National Standards are met at all times. Develop and regularly review a set of policies and procedures to be followed within the Nursery to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations and be aware of H&S regulations to ensure the Nursery is kept to the required standard of cleanliness and hygiene and be responsible for all Health and Safety matters in the Nursery to ensure the wellbeing of children, staff and visitors.
Assist in maintaining OFSTED standards in order to provide consistent quality of service and be responsible for the preparation for OFSTED inspections and action any recommendations that may result from inspection to ensure that the Nursery is run within National guidelines.
Monitor the number of places being used in the Nursery; receive initial enquiries for places, issue information and ensure that all forms are completed correctly before admission in order to ensure that the Nursery is run efficiently.
Maintain up to date records of resources and accurate financial records to ensure that financial procedures are adhered to and income and expenditure is kept within budget.
Support staff in development and maintenance of appropriate planning, observation and assessment procedures to ensure a consistent service and develop, with staff, a recording system for individual children which can be shared with parents and other professionals and agencies enabling improvements to working methods and service.
Ensure that appropriate records and administration systems, including the children’s, families, staffing, registers, health and safety, sickness records etc., are maintained to ensure confidentiality of information.
Supervise and provide advice, guidance and training to students, trainees and others on work placements or work experience in order that they receive the appropriate support and guidance and establish relationships with colleges and schools as necessary in order that their activities are co-ordinated.
Act as the Safeguarding Lead and working with other professionals in the identification and monitoring so that Child Protection policies are adhered to and develop relationships with external agencies and professionals to ensure adequate care of the children is maintained.
NECESSARY EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Level 3 qualification (ideally Level 6) or equivalent in Early Years and Childcare development.
At least 2 years experience in a senior position and relevant experience in a managerial or supervisory post in an early years and childcare setting.
Understanding of financial policies and procedures together with experience of budget monitoring and control.
Experience and understanding of multi-agency and partnership working.
Knowledge and experience of policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality.
