The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Coventry University and The University of Warwick as an Assistant Professor (Teaching) - Research Lead, on a fixed term contract.
This Doctorate is a joint collaboration between Coventry University, the University of Warwick, Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, other NHS providers, and NHS England. The programme is committed to developing reflective practitioners and fostering innovation in clinical psychology education. Therefore, we are inviting applications from HCPC registered Clinical Psychologists or suitably qualified individuals who hold a qualification at Doctoral level with a demonstrable track record of research in applied psychology. The post holder will work collaboratively with the respective Clinical and Academic course leads, who will provide overall oversight for the divisions supported by the Programme Director.
Applicants should bring a broad range of experience across research and clinical settings, with demonstrable expertise in teaching within higher education and/or supervising clinical psychology trainees. We are particularly interested in candidates who apply a critical lens to issues of power and privilege and who have a passion for creativity and innovation in professional practice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong digital fluency and the ability to design engaging teaching materials across diverse media. We are seeking a postholder who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of working with sensitive information. The successful applicant will possess exceptional knowledge of psychological therapies theory and practice, expertise in doctoral-level supervision, and outstanding communication and organisational skills.
The successful post holder will be based within the CU Health and Care and will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties Include:
You will have an essential role and contribution to all aspects of the programme, particularly:
1. Lead on the delivery of engaging and comprehensive research teaching and tutorials.
2. Lead on developing course materials, assessments, and course development to enhance the learning experience and ensure curricula coherence and flow that are pertinent to research
3. Module leadership and contribution to the module marking teams
4. Line management of staff within the research strand of the DClinPsych Programme and coordinate the allocation of research projects and Vivas.
5. Attend ClinPsych meetings and committees, as required.
6. A member of the team dedicated to the admissions and selection of high-quality trainee clinical psychologists
7. Undertake other appropriate duties and responsibilities as delegated by the DClinPsy Programme Director
NHS Agenda for Change salary band 8a will be matched for this role using a market supplement payment. NHS secondments can be considered for this role.

Qualifications Required
- Hold a DClinPsy or equivalent qualification (e.g. psychology related doctoral level degree)
- A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education in research in applied psychology
- PhD and active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous (e.g BPS)
- Experience supervising DClinPsych Trainee thesis/research projects and/ or PhD projects
