Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Machine Operative to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring a variety of production and packaging machinery, including mixing, enrobing, and flow wrap equipment. This role involves preparing ingredients, maintaining product quality, completing production records, and ensuring all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor production, mixing, enrobing, and packaging machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Weigh, measure, blend, and prepare butter mixtures and other ingredients according to production specifications.
- Load raw materials, butter blends, and mixed products into machinery, ensuring correct quantities and consistency are maintained.
- Operate flow wrap packaging equipment, ensuring products are packaged correctly and meet weight, appearance, and sealing standards.
- Carry out routine quality checks on products throughout the production process, including weight, texture, temperature, consistency, appearance, and packaging standards.
- Complete production paperwork accurately, including batch records, ingredient usage logs, quality control documents, weight records, and production reports.
- Monitor machine performance and carry out basic adjustments to maintain efficiency and minimise downtime.
- Identify and report machinery faults, breakdowns, defects, or maintenance requirements promptly to supervisors or engineering teams.
- Maintain production targets while ensuring high standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and operational efficiency.
- Follow all company procedures, food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and quality assurance requirements at all times.
- Clean and sanitise machinery, equipment, and work areas in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment throughout each shift.
- Work effectively as part of a team to support smooth production processes and achieve daily production targets.
Skills and Requirements
- Previous experience operating production or packaging machinery is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and production schedules accurately.
- Good attention to detail and ability to carry out quality checks.
- Basic understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to complete production records and paperwork accurately.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to learn new processes and machinery.
