The role will require you to be highly flexible and feel comfortable supporting the young person’s special interests. This is a self-employed role, and all successful applicants will need to comply with our safer recruitment policy. We offer training, continued professional development and supervision to all our practitioners. A key part of this role is gently supporting the young person to grow their social confidence, helping them practise socialising and connect with others. About the young person:
The young person is 11 and needs a bespoke approach to care and education that rebuilds trust, honours autonomy, and reduces anxiety. Taking time to understand their rhythms, preferences, and sensory profile provides valuable insight into their thought process. The young person has a monotropic way of thinking, and one thing/topic can capture their interest for weeks. They currently prefer low-demand, one-to-one interaction rather than group socialising, and thrive outdoors in nature, playing football, and using park equipment to help regulate high energy and sensory needs.
Their world of interests include:
Jokes, Word games, Animals, Nature & being outdoors, Football, Playing in the park
