We are delighted to present an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and motivated Deputy Manager to join our Children’s Residential Care team in Harrow. This role involves supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a 4-bed children’s EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) home, ensuring high-quality care and support for young people.
As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of the children, while supporting and guiding your team to deliver outstanding care.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with all aspects of the home’s operations, ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted standards, and company policies.
- Taking responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring continuity and consistency of care.
- Leading, mentoring, and supervising the staff team to promote a positive and supportive culture.
- Overseeing day-to-day operations, including rota management, staff deployment, and effective use of resources.
- Ensuring the emotional, physical, and psychological wellbeing of young people within a safe, nurturing environment.
- Working closely with external professionals (social workers, educators, healthcare providers) to provide holistic support for each young person.
- Leading safeguarding practices and risk management, ensuring all concerns are addressed promptly.
- Driving continuous improvement through reflective practice, training, and team development.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A QCF Level 3/4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Level 5 Leadership and Management desirable or willingness to work towards).
- At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role (Team Leader, Senior Residential Support Worker, or Deputy Manager) within a children’s residential setting.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, safeguarding policies, and childcare legislation.
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people, particularly those with EBD needs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- A full UK driving licence (with at least 2 years’ driving experience).
