About Us
At Little H Café, we’re an independent café in the heart of Hebden Bridge, with a simple approach: good food, great coffee, friendly service and doing things well.
We’re a small, established team, so everyone plays an important part in keeping the café running smoothly. We work closely together, help each other out and value people who take pride in their work and notice what needs doing.
Our menu includes homemade cakes and soups, freshly made-to-order sandwiches and paninis, alongside our coffee and drinks. We care about quality, but we also understand that good service means being efficient and keeping your head when things get busy.
The Role
We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking and friendly Cafe All Rounder to join our team.
This is primarily a back-of-house and food preparation role, with regular front-of-house work. You’ll need to be comfortable moving between the kitchen and café floor depending on what the service requires.
We’re looking for someone who can work at pace, use their initiative and get on with the job without needing to be constantly directed. During busy periods, you’ll need to stay organised, communicate well and work closely with the rest of the team.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on and getting involved wherever they’re needed.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing food, including assembling sandwiches and paninis
- Assisting with daily kitchen preparation and service
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well stocked
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
- Following food safety and health & safety procedures
- Serving customers and taking orders
- Preparing and serving food and drinks
- Keeping the café and dining areas clean and presentable
- Managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively during busy periods
- Communicating with the team to keep service running smoothly
- Helping wherever needed across the café
What we're looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Hardworking and proactive
- Friendly and approachable
- Comfortable working in a busy environment
- Able to stay calm and organised under pressure
- Good at communicating with both customers and colleagues
- Happy to work independently while also being a strong team player
- Someone who notices what needs doing and gets on with it
- Passionate about good food, cleanliness and customer service
- Flexible and willing to help across different areas of the café
Previous experience in a café, restaurant, kitchen or other food-service environment is preferred. Experience with food preparation and knowledge of food hygiene practices would be an advantage.
However, attitude and reliability are just as important as experience. If you’re willing to learn, work hard and become an important part of a small team, we’d like to hear from you.
Why work with us?
We’re a small independent café rather than a large chain, so you’ll be an important part of the team and your contribution genuinely matters.
We offer:
- 24–30 hours per week, over 4–5 days depending on the candidate
- One weekend shift as part of your regular rota
- Rotas published 3–4 weeks in advance
- A friendly, supportive working environment
- A varied role across kitchen and front of house
- Staff discount
- Shared tips
- Training and support
- The opportunity to develop your skills across different areas of café work
Our shifts are typically Tuesday to Saturday, although flexibility throughout the week is important, particularly when covering annual leave. Our rotas can change from week to week, so we’re particularly interested in candidates who can offer good availability and flexibility.
If you take pride in doing a job well, enjoy working with people and want to be part of a small team where everyone pulls together, Little H Café could be a great fit for you.
