About Us
Muddy Boots Nursery is a growing, multi-site early years group with settings across York and Leeds, plus Out of School Club provision. Our Central HR Team supports every nursery in the group, and we're now looking for an HR Administrator to join us at an exciting time of growth.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced HR Administrator to join our small, friendly Central HR Team. This is a varied generalist role, supporting the full employee lifecycle across our eight nursery settings and beyond — from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations, absence management, and HR reporting.
You'll work closely with The Head of HR and the HR Team as well as the Nursery Managers to provide efficient, accurate, and people-focused HR administration, helping to keep our organisation running smoothly as we grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day HR administrative support across all Muddy Boots settings
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
- Supporting recruitment processes, including safer recruitment checks and DBS administration
- Assisting with onboarding, contracts, and employee lifecycle documentation
- Supporting absence tracking, reporting, and basic case administration
- Helping to prepare HR reports and data for management and board use
- Responding to routine employee and manager queries
- Supporting wider HR projects as the organisation continues to grow
About You
- Experience in a generalist HR role is essential
- CIPD qualification is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of early years settings or safer recruitment practices would be a distinct advantage
- Strong organisational skills and great attention to detail
- Confident with HR systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A discreet, approachable manner with the ability to build trust across teams
- Comfortable working independently as part of a small team
Hours & Location
This role is 25 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements. You'll need to attend our Central Offices in Tadcaster at least once a week, and be available to attend meetings across our sites as required.
Why Join Us?
You'll be part of a supportive, close-knit HR team at a nursery group that genuinely cares about its people — both the children we care for and the teams who care for them. It's a great time to join us as we grow, with real opportunity to shape and develop your role alongside the organisation.
Ideal candidates will have their own transport in order to travel to the nursery sites, when needed.
Hours of work would be 25 hours per week, across 4 days which will be discussed in more detail at the interview stage.
This is a hybrid role working from home, with the requirement to work from our central office in Tadcaster or occasional work from our nursery settings, as required.
