Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with strong plumbing and electrical skills to support maintenance operations across a range of commercial and retail properties. This role involves planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, minor installations, and ensuring all building services are functioning efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform both electrical and plumbing maintenance, repairs, and installations in commercial and retail settings.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance tasks and emergency call-outs.
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and compliance standards.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs across a wide range of systems and equipment.
- Carry out minor mechanical and fabric maintenance tasks as required (e.g., HVAC checks, basic carpentry or painting).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of all works carried out using job management systems or manual logs.
- Liaise with clients, site managers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality service.
- Ensure all tools and materials are used safely and stored appropriately.
- Identify and report on any issues requiring escalation or further investigation.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering or maintenance role, with a focus on both plumbing and electrical work.
- Recognised qualifications in both disciplines, such as:
- Plumbing: NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Plumbing or Heating & Ventilation.
- Electrical: NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition (BS7671), and ideally 2391 (or equivalent) for inspection & testing.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of building services and compliance requirements (e.g., Legionella awareness, electrical safety).
- Experience working on commercial or retail buildings preferred.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence (if the role requires travel between sites).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Desirable:
- IPAF or PASMA certification.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Knowledge of fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
- First Aid certification.
Working Environment:
- Sites will include retail outlets, shopping centres, office buildings, and other commercial properties.
- The role may involve travel between sites, occasional work at height, and working in confined spaces.
- PPE and tools will be provided by the company.
