Pay: £12.71 - £13 per hour dependant on qualification
About Us
Broughton Under Fives Preschool is a small, friendly, committee-run village preschool with a welcoming team of early years practitioners.
Based in Broughton Village Hall, we are fortunate to have access to a fantastic countryside area, providing lots of opportunities for outdoor learning, exploration and play.
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic person to join our bank/support staff team.
You do not need to hold an Early Years qualification to apply. This could be a great opportunity for someone studying at college or university, considering a career in early years, or looking to gain experience working with children.
The Role
As a Bank Early Years Practitioner, you will provide flexible support when needed, including during staff absence, training and periods where additional help is required.
This is a casual/bank position with no guaranteed hours. You can accept offered shifts according to your availability, making it a great option for fitting work around family life, university or college, another job or other commitments.
Working alongside our experienced practitioners, you will help to:
- Support children’s learning, development and wellbeing through play and activities
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
- Build positive relationships with children and colleagues
- Support children with their individual needs
- Follow our safeguarding, health and safety and preschool procedures
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Support safe eating, hygiene and personal care
- Provide flexible support to the preschool team as required
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is caring, patient, reliable and enthusiastic
- Has a genuine interest in working with young children
- Puts children’s safety and wellbeing first
- Is willing to learn about the EYFS and early years practice
- Understands the importance of safeguarding or is willing to undertake appropriate training
- Can work well as part of a small, friendly team
- Is flexible and able to adapt when providing cover
- Can commute reliably to Broughton, NN14 1ND
Desirable Skills:
- Previous childcare or early years experience
- An Early Years qualification
- Paediatric First Aid

The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate safer-recruitment and pre-employment checks, including:
- Enhanced DBS and appropriate Children’s Barred List check
- Identity and Right to Work checks
- Satisfactory references obtained directly by the preschool
- Appropriate checks relating to previous employment with children, where applicable
- Clarification of relevant employment gaps or discrepancies
- Verification of qualifications where applicable
- Assessment of suitability to work with children
Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate induction and safeguarding training.
