We are looking for an experienced Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join our team at Sellafield, where you'll play a key role in driving our Zero Harm culture and supporting the delivery of critical projects within one of the UK's most complex nuclear environments
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you'll provide expert HS&W support to project delivery teams, helping to maintain the highest standards of safety, wellbeing and performance across site operations. This is a highly visible, site-based role where you'll work closely with operational teams, contractors and customers to promote best practice and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day Health, Safety & Wellbeing support across project teams.
- Conducting inspections, audits and site visits to ensure compliance and promote continual improvement.
- Leading, developing and coaching HS&W Advisors and Specialists.
- Monitoring working practices and intervening when unsafe behaviours are observed.
- Supporting incident investigations and ensuring actions are effectively closed out.
- Building strong relationships with project stakeholders, contractors and safety representatives.
- Sharing lessons learned and embedding best practice across the project.
- Driving performance against HS&W objectives and supporting Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm strategy
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a confident and proactive HS&W professional who can influence positive behaviours and support high-performing teams.
- Experience within the nuclear or highly regulated construction environment.
- Strong planning, organisational and monitoring skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Strong knowledge of HS&E legislation and practical application.
- Experience in incident investigation.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence a positive safety culture.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
- Qualified to, or working towards, CertIOSH membership
- Able to obtain a security clearance
- CMIOSH (or working towards).
- Experience delivering HS&W training.
- Additional technical qualifications relevant to health, safety or wellbeing
