Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Second Chef to join our dynamic culinary team in our newly renovated kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering high-quality food in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a renowned establishment, ensuring exceptional dining experiences for our guests. The Second Chef will support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring quality control and consistency across all menu items.
- Support in managing inventory levels, ordering supplies, and minimising waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
- Ensure timely service of meals during busy periods while maintaining high standards of presentation.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Assist with menu planning and development under the guidance of the Head Chef.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management.
- Supervising experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Team management skills with a focus on motivating staff and fostering teamwork.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and suppliers.
- Formal culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in restaurant service or hospitality environments is advantageous.

Pay: £12.71-£19.92 per hour
